Assalamu Alaykum wa Rahmat Allah,

Eid Mubarak!

Alhamdulilah a lot of us got a lot closer to the Quraan, a lot closer to proper ibadaat (including nawafil), and a lot farther from sin. Let not this change of heart end now. Carry it out—and drag it along throughout the rest of the year.

So many times we think “i wish i could do this ibaadah but im just too busy” but suddenly, during Ramadan, we somehow make time. Let this be an example of our actual capacity. If we WANT to get something done, believe me, we can find time.

Concerning the Quraan, many of us (including myself) make the excuse that we dont have enough time–there are not enough hours in the day–to sit down and give the Quraan its TRUE RIGHT (not the quick ‘ahh this ayah is nice..goodbye’ type action). I came across this example that a hafidh of the Quraan shared. These were the words of his Teacher:

If I was to hold a bucket filled to the brim with sand, it would seem that the bucket is packed and that nothing else could fit inside. However, if I was to take some water and pour it in the bucket, wouldn’t it be able to fit inside without any sand overflowing? No matter how packed the sand may look, there will always be ample cracks and gaps for the water to go through

So even though our lives seem full, they seem ‘packed to the brim’, there still is room for us to sweeten our lives with the word of Allah.

I ask Allah that he strengthens my, and your, bond with the Quraan and that we begin to truly take it as a guide to our lives.

و آخر دعوانا أن الحمد لله رب العالمين
